British muesli manufacturer and importer, Dorset Cereals will use its growing consumer reach to raise awareness of MOREwoods, a project created by the Woodland Trust to encourage tree planting.

During the next two years, the firm will team up with the woodland conservation charity to support community groups plant more than 8,000 trees across the UK.

The MOREwoods scheme is designed to increase native tree cover in the UK by encouraging people to plant trees on their own, or on community-owned land. Details of the initiative will be featured on Dorset Cereal packaging and its website.

“It is vital that we are supported by companies like Dorset Cereals, helping spread awareness of our ambitious plans, as well as funding the planting of thousands of trees,” said the Woodland Trust’s Claire Ollerenshaw.

“These trees will enhance communities up and down the UK.”

But the charity team-up isn’t the only thing that Dorset Cereals is doing to help protect the environment. All of the company’s cereal packets are made from recycled board and any waste cardboard is recycled on site at Poundbury. Oh, and all food waste is churned up and fed to the local lucky pigs.
