Red Forge, a leading specialist supplier of on-board weighing systems, announced three new orders for its new Delta on-board weighing system even before its UK launch at the CIWM 2004 Torbay event.

The new “Delta On-board Weighing System” is designed by weighing expert Welvaarts, the European specialist in the field of vehicle weighing. Red Forge says that the “Delta” system offers “the ultimate in simple to use cost-effective ‘leading-edge weighing technology’, with a window on the future.”

According to Red Forge’s Iain Moody, “the system is approved to European R51 Y(a) & Y(b) and UK National Weights & Measures Class III & Class IIII standards. The ‘Delta System’ is the only system of its type to have achieved full type approval by UK National Weights & Measures for both fully automatic and non-automatic weighing applications. As such the ‘Delta System’ is ‘trade approved’ for charging by weight. This feature puts the Delta System in the forefront of local authority planning in terms of future commercial and domestic bin weighing and charging planning.”

By utilising the system, the company says that local authorities can closely monitor their recycling participation rates and ultimately ensure increased participation uptakes in order to avoid future fines imposed as a result of current EU legislation.

Following financial figures provided by a large national waste contractor to Red Forge, pay-back times for this type of system, according to Red Forge, are estimated at around 9 – 12 months in terms of dedicated trade waste vehicle utilisation and following this period, ensure improved profit maximisation.
From crane weighing and confidential mobile waste paper shredding applications, through commercial waste applications to split-automatic bin weighing with fully automated RFID bin tagging technology and local authority recycling vehicle applications, the new “Delta System” aims to address the current and future requirements of both local authorities and private operators.

The range is available as a “true load cell based” axle load indicator system, a non-certified or certified class III/IIII system and Red Forge iis already anticipating a large response to this new addition from the Welvaarts stable.
