Lily Cole completes star-studded speaker line-up for Sustainability Leaders Forum

Colewill share her insights across an array of sustainability leadership topics on the afternoon of Wednesday 9th March

Cole, who spoke at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, will join our Sustainability Leaders Forum chair Solitaire Townsend on stage for a ‘fireside chat’-style discussion on the afternoon of Wednesday 9th March.

Cole began her career as a teenager, modelling for brands such as Alexander McQueen and Chanel. She has also starred in films such as 2009’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and The Moth Diaries in 2011, but in recent years has become increasingly involved in environmental and charity projects.

Cole’s book and accompanying podcast, Who Cares Wins, was born of her work in sustainable fashion, social business and climate activism. They explores the myriad of environmental solutions from tech-utopia to indigenous wisdom. Cole has also directed multiple short films on these topics including the refugee crisis, women’s rights, living off-grid and an exploration into wild rubber made with WWF. 

Cole has spoken at several other high-profile events including Davos, Google’s Zeitgeist conference and Wired. She holds an MA in history of art from the University of Cambridge, was an affiliate at The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Glasgow, for her contribution to humanitarian and environmental causes through social businesses. Cole is also a patron of the Environmental Justice foundation, which runs a campaign for climate refugees.

At edie’s Sustainability Leaders Forum, Cole will provide an insights across an array of topics, including her first-hand experiences at COP26; the importance of galvanising young people and the role of climate strikes; and advancing gender equality in the fashion industry and beyond.

The UK’s largest sustainability leadership event takes place on 8-9 March 2022 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. The event will unite hundreds of professionals for inspiring keynotes, dynamic panel discussions, interactive workshops and facilitated networking sessions.

More than 80 speakers will grace various stages and panels across the event, including experts from Natural England, the Green Finance Institute, the World Economic Forum and the Centre for Climate Repair.
