The new look awards are now open for nominations and aim to provide shining examples of the good work being done by the public and voluntary sectors as well as by business.
The awards are RSA accredited which means winners can be put forward for the European Business Awards for the Environment, the Champion’s League of eco awards which see the inspirational and innovative from across the continent compete for accolades.
Full details of the awards and how to enter can be found on the website but the categories are as follows:
Simon Mills, the City of London’s sustainability co-ordinator said: “Sustainable development is increasingly at the heart of business practice, not only for multinationals, but also for SMEs.
“We are looking forward to discovering and rewarding through our two new categories the exemplary work that’s being done both by SMEs and in the area of sustainable design.”
Entries must be received by December 2, 2006 and judging will take place in January next year.
Previous winners of the awards have ranged from Royal Mail and Sainsbury’s to tiny charities and family-run businesses.
Zac Goldsmith, editor of the Ecologist will be presenting this year’s awards.
