A fire that ripped through a Slough recycling plant on Sunday caused upwards of £500,000 damage and left London cut off from the West as rail links from Paddington to Reading were suspended as a safety measure.

The fire at Baylis Recycling’s plant is believed to have been started by youths torching to a bin and was reported to the Berkshire fire service at 10.30am on Sunday, September 17.

The blaze was finally extinguished at 9pm that night, having ravaged the site and caused extensive damage.
