Can ice clean sewers

Last updated: 28th September 2012

This presentation will explain the highly innovative and award winning process of Ice Pigging which is now an established technique for cleaning drinking water pipes in the UK and other parts of the world. But can ice be used to clean sewers? The presentation will draw upon the world's first three new experiences of cleaning sewers with ice in the UK and Holland during 2011. The potential benefits of using ice over other techniques are numerous. Key is that cleaning with ice is exceptionally low risk - if the ice gets stuck it will eventually melt. Also the speed and efficiency of cleaning with ice has massive potential to reduce disruption and complication due to its speed and efficiency. Finally, cleaning with ice appears to be possible over many hundreds of metres at a time -a key benefit when considering the total impact of cleaning. This presentation will be highly visual, working through case-studies, and using video and photographic evidence to explain the experiences of this breakthrough process. Who should attend? Waste Water company representative, Consultants, and contractors interested in cleaning sewers.
