More delays to contaminated land regime

In a written answer to Parliament on 27 April 1999, the Government announced that the new regime, introduced by Section 57 of the Environment Act 1995 into Part IIa of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, should come into force in England on or about 1 December.

Local authorities will have 15 months from the date of implementation to draw up registers of contamination in their areas.
