Net-Zero Accelerators: edie launches mini report on business strategy and innovation
edie is publishing a mini-series of reports focused on the net-zero transition through the lens of energy and sustainability professionals based on exclusive conversations with our Net-Zero Leaders Club. First up, a report on strategy and innovation.
The SPARK! Net-Zero Action Workshops event is the flagship annual gathering for edie’s Net-Zero Leaders Club, which sparks new ideas and actions on the road to net-zero carbon emissions. Hosted as part of edie’s Net-Zero November campaign of content and events, this full-day event created the time and space for energy and sustainability changemakers to connect, collaborate and seize the moment of net-zero.
Throughout the day, experts representing a range of sectors took part in high-level roundtables, each covering a different element of the energy transition for businesses. The key takeaways have been summarised in a miniseries of short, free-to-download reports. The first report has been published by edie today (14 January) and focuses on net-zero business strategies and innovation.
A rapid and just transition to net-zero carbon business is only possible through ambitious and robust decarbonisation strategies, and the viability of technological innovations to advance the cause. But – as we enter a crucial year for climate action – what does a great net-zero strategy and innovation actually look like, in practice?
This mini-report, published in assistance with Inspired Energy looks to answer that question and also features an expert viewpoint from Inspired Energy’s director of energy solutions Robert Leak.
A panel of experts in the energy transition also spoke at the SPARK! Net-Zero Action Workshops in Birmingham last November.
The panel was asked what was top of their remaining UK policy wishlist after COP26- and the flurry of Strategy publications and funding announcements that came in the weeks and months leading up to the climate summit. These included the Hydrogen Strategy, Heat and Buildings Strategy and overarching Net-Zero Strategy.
