Following his appointment, Mansley will take responsibility for developing capital market opportunities and third party investor relationships within the sector.

Speaking about the GIB, Mansley said: “I have been truly impressed by the development of the Green Investment Bank establishing such a high quality team and starting to successfully execute on its meaningful mandate to support the UK’s renewable energy sector.”

Mansley previously worked as the managing director at Morgan Stanley where he was head of European renewables.

He also spent ten years at Credit Suisse, where he executed over 40 transactions worth in excess of $30bn (£19bn) in the power, utility and renewable sectors.

In September 2012, Business Secretary Vince Cable announced Shaun Kingsbury as the new chief executive for the GIB.

Kingsbury joined from the private equity firm Hudson Clean Energy Partners where he was responsible for its European activities.
