New guide to research and development funding

The Environment Industries Commission (EIC) has published a new guide providing details on funding programmes that are available from the UK government and the European Union designed to support research and development in environmental technology.


Funding programmes in the UK include the Sustainable Technologies Initiative, the Carbon Trust R&D Programme, the Clean Coal Technology Programme, the Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme, LINK, the SMART Awards and funding from research councils.

Within the Europe, funding programmes include the Fifth Action Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, LIFE III, SAVE II, ALTENER II and COST.

“Innovation is the key to success in the rapidly growing global environmental technology and services industry,” said EIC Director Merlin Hyman. “This guide is designed to ensure that UK companies are aware of the support available to promote innovation in environmental technologies – helping to ensure that the UK is at the forefront of this vital new industry.”
