New online waste marketplace will cut down on disposal

A new online waste marketplace to be launched on 26 March will connect waste producers with waste consumers, and promote the use of one business’s waste as another’s raw material.

The website will allow businesses in any sector to reduce the costs of their waste disposal and profit from the sale of waste or surplus materials, say the website’s organisers, who are also keen to point out that such activity will help to improve a firm’s environmental image. Other advantages of the website for businesses include a reduced risk from holding potentially dangerous wastes in storage, enabling compliance with health and safety, and environmental legislation, and allowing companies to provide a direct contribution to local, regional, national and global needs of sustainable resource consumption.

Firms are able to register for the service for free for a limited time.
