Fingal County Council 'extremely disappointed' by recycling company

A large number of people have been left holding on to green waste after a contractor failed to hold up their contractual obligations to remove rubbish.

Oxigen, which recently lost its contract to deal with recyclable waste from four Dublin authorities, was supposed to take waste until the end of December.

However, some houses have not had their waste collected, in a move that Fingal County Council has said is "extremely disappointing".

A spokesperson added: "This time of year is when this service is in greatest demand and householders are recycling more than ever.

"We have been handing a high volume of calls from our customers and are doing everything we can through liaising with Oxigen and Greyhound, the new green bin contractor, to ensure that all recyclable material is collected as soon as possible."

Greyhound Recycling, the new operator of recycling waste in the area, took over responsibilities on January 2nd.
