Hilary Benn new Environment Secretary

News in Brief

Hilary Benn, former International Development Secretary, is to take over as Environment Secretary in Gordon Brown's new cabinet.

Mr Benn will replace rising star David Miliband, who has been promoted to Foreign Secretary.

MP for Leeds Central, Hilary Benn is son of left wing poster boy Tony Benn, but has not inherited all of his politics, famously saying 'I am a Benn, not a Bennite'.
