Trade boost for eco-tech firms

Players from some of the world's fastest growing environmental technology markets will come together at a networking event hosted by UK Trade & Investment on May 2nd.

Set up as one-to-one meetings, Meet the Buyer opens the door for UK firms to increase sales and form new partnerships with overseas buyers from countries including Thailand, Brazil and the Phillipines.

Meet the Buyer will take place on May 2 at Sustainabilitylive! – the UK’s biggest environmental technologies trade exhibition, to be held on May 1st – 3rd in Birmingham.

UK Trade & Investment says that the Meet the Buyer event offers UK companies in the environment sector the chance to promote their products and services to delegates from around the world, with hopes of topping last year’s event where more than 40 UK companies met with buyers from 16 foreign markets.

Overseas buyers are said to be interested in sub-sectors ranging from air pollution and waste management to contaminated land remediation and environmental training.

Dr Jim Coulson, managing director of Microbac Ltd attended Meet the Buyer in 2006.

He said: “At the Meet the Buyers event at ET, I was able to meet a wide range of commercial and technical representatives from environmental companies in China, Colombia, Ecuador, Estonia, Kuwait, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan in a single day.

“These valuable one-to-one discussions have subsequently produced an agency agreement and several continued dialogues with potential clients and agents for our wastewater treatment plants and bioremediation technology.

“I found the day thoroughly rewarding and I would not hesitate to visit a similar event”.

Meet the Buyer takes place on May 2. Sustainabilitylive! will run from 1-3 May at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC).
