Harry Potter star Emma Watson launches sustainable fashion line
Harry Potter star Emma Watson has collaborated with a sustainable fashion label to produce environmentally friendly clothes and accessories.
Miss Watson, who shot to fame as a nine-year-old playing Hermione Granger, is no stranger to the world of fashion having previously fronted advertising campaigns for Burberry.
She has acted as creative advisor on the line, which includes of jersey t-shirts, dresses, woven skirts, trousers and knitwear for both sexes and worked closely with People Tree's in house design team and chief executive Safia Minney
She said: "I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with.
"It has been the most incredible gap year project, I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren't many options out there."
The line will use 100% organic and fairtrade certified cotton, it is also made entirely by fair trade groups by hand, using hand weaving, hand knitting and hand embroidery to create livelihoods for some of the most disadvantaged people in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
