Mini-dolmen removal campaign in the Burren
A campaign to take-down 100s of mini-dolmens built by tourists visiting a park in Ireland kicks off next Wednesday.
Building the mini-dolmens, smaller versions of larger structures built by bronze age man, damage the limestone scattered around the Burren.
Children from the fifth and sixth year classes of nearby Ballyvaughan and Lisdoonvarna primary schools, local landowners and officials from The Burren Connect Project and Clare County Council will start removing the mini-dolams.
Irish authorities used to turn a blind eye to the practice, but increased visitor number have meant it's now 'irreparably' damaging the site.
