VIDEO: What are the sustainable business opportunities of COP26?

With COP26 fast approaching, edie spoke to a number of sustainability professionals during its recent Climate Action Workshops to find out how they plan to harness the momentum of the global summit and translate it into tangible corporate action.

Members of the Sustainability and Net-Zero Leaders Clubs and affiliate 30 Under 30 programme attended their first live edie event experience since the coronavirus pandemic, with a COP26-themed workshop event that took place in London earlier this month.

The sessions were the flagship event of the year for edie’s Sustainability Leaders Club – made up of UK-based professionals who are leading and/or implementing their organisation’s sustainability and CSR strategy.

Hosted as part of edie’s Countdown to COP26 Festival of content and events in association with our headline partner O2, the unique event consisted of keynote talks and panel discussions involving an array of business and climate thought-leaders. They were followed by five collaborative workshop discussions based on the five main campaigns of COP26: Clean Energy, Clean Transport, Nature-Based Solutions, Climate Adaptation & Resilience, and Climate Finance.

At the event, the edie editorial team aske sustainability professionals “What is the one big opportunity that you will be focusing on to turn the global ambitions of COP26 into climate actions for your organisation?”

In the video, sustainability experts from Currys plc, BT, Formula E and more all offered insight as to how they hope to harness the momentum of the two-week climate Summit in Glasgow next month.

Speakers in the video are as follows:

  • Gabrielle Giner, Head of environmental sustainability, BT
  • Henry Cawson, Environmental and energy manager Arriva
  • Jessica Tasney, EcoHousing coordinator, Change Agents UK
  • Iona Neilson, Sustainability manager, Formula E
  • Gudrun Cartwright, Climate Action Director, Business in the Community
  • Matt Manning, Group carbon and environment manager, Currys
