Chromium-contaminated pilot results to be revealed

The results of a much anticipated trial into the remediation of chromium-contaminated land are to be revealed at BEX part of SustainabilityLive! at Birmingham's NEC.

Field trials for the chromium-contaminated area at Shawfield, Glasgow, have been carried out by URS on behalf of the local authority.

The work has been headed up by URS’ remediation service line leader Richard Bewley.

Chromium is commonly used in construction as it helps steel resist corrosion, however it is all toxic and has the potential to cause cancer.

Mr Bewley said he didn’t want to elaborate too much before the show but explained it was a ‘complex’ piece of work.

To hear the whole story Mr Bewley will be speaking at the BEX seminar theatre at 1.30pm on Wednesday April 21.
