Singer Sheryl Crow has called for a ban on excessive use of toilet paper, saying its use should be limited to one sheet per visit except on ‘those pesky occasions’ where up to three might be acceptable.

During her recent Stop Global Warming College Tour of Us universities and colleges – on a biodiesel fuelled bus, of course – the singer also called paper napkins the height of wastefulness.

She claims to have invented a washable ‘dining sleeve’ to fulfil the same role.
