The awards, sponsored by water regulator Ofwat and organised by edieWater’s sister journals WET News and Water & Wastewater Treatment (WWT), recognise innovation and best practice in the water industry which delivers real benefits to consumers.

Now in its sixth year, the ceremony and gala dinner will take place on March 29 2012 at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham.

Entries are now open for the 13 categories, which reward the best initiatives of the year in the following areas: partnership, FOG reduction, customer satisfaction, carbon reduction, community project, health and safety, SUDS and flood management, most innovative use of new technology, most innovative use of existing technology, renewable energy, and leakage.

In addition, an award will be made to the individual who has made an “outstanding and important contribution” to the industry by helping to raise standards, improve the industry’s image, or open up a new area of the market.

WET News and WWT publisher Angela Himus said: “We know that there’s a tremendous amount of innovation and research going on, which is so important if the water industry is to meet the challenges of the future. The awards are the ideal way to celebrate and reward that work.”

Tickets to the WIA awards presentation and gala dinner will be available shortly, with early bird discounts available to those who book before January 31, 2012. Interested parties can register their interest and be put on the reserve list by registering via the ‘keep me in the loop’ function on the website.

Any Business, organisation or indivdual interested in entering one of this year’s categories or in sponsorship, or who would like to win tickets to the awards ceremony, should contact WET News
editor Maureen Gaines.

The deadline for entries is December 19 2011.
