Charity launches recycling initiative to raise cash

The disability organisation, which raises awareness about cerebral palsy while offering support to sufferers, has joined forces with the Recycling Appeal (RA) to urge people to bring in their old mobile phones or printer cartridges to raise money for their Time to get equal campaign.

Recycling these items will help the environment as well as the charity, preventing them from being send to landfill where toxic substances can leak out and pollute the land.

“There are an estimated 90 million redundant mobile phones in cupboards and drawers across the UK – enough to stretch along the Great wall of China five times,” recycling manager for Scope, George Eracleous said. “If yours is one of them, please donate it to our recycling appeal.”

“If you use a printer with your home computer, or even in the office, we would gratefully accept your old cartridges too.”

Unwanted phones and used cartridges can either be sent off in a Freepost envelope from the RA or drop them off at one of the UK’s 300 Scope shops.

On average, each phone will raise around £2.50 and a used cartridge is worth 90p.
