Specialist Shopping Precinct Waste Planning

Last updated: 20th March 2019

Managing the transition to a reliable waste management service for a niche retail precinct with access problems.

The Challenge

The retail precinct, which houses boutique shops and restaurants, found the restriction of space and access a challenge to effectively manage waste without damaging the experience, in terms of image and brand, for their customers.

Due to the size and location of the centre, we were tasked with introducing and maintaining a low-cost solution with minimal waste storage and space. The customer needed to remove their existing waste management provider due to numerous failed services and communication issues and replace them with an efficient and diligent supplier.

The Solution

We initially provided a like-for-like general waste service to maintain costs, minimise disruption and provide a better service with better communication.

With our extensive knowledge and experience in the industry, we were quickly able to put a contractor in place that had a good history of providing waste collection services to the area. This immediately delivered a reliable service coupled with an engagement-focused service offered by our Customer Service Representatives to improve communication and management of the site’s challenges as and when they arose.

The Outcome

Waste collections have become much more reliable with few missed services and where services have been unable to take place, we have been quick to advise the client why and also to resolve it with a quick catch-up turn around. The success of the service has been reflected in excellent feedback from the client.
