Crisp packets recycled as band seeks CD covers
News in BriefA band looking to pay more than lip service to environmental issues has found a creative solution to covering its CDs - by using inside-out crisp packets.
According to the band, Recoup, the discarded packets, once cleaned, have a uniform size and colour and have proved ideal packaging for the music.
Each wrapped CD is sealed with a sticker reading reduce, reuse, recycle, recoup and the packaging was carried out by hordes of enthusiastic school children as part of their lessons on environmental responsibility.
Peter Theron, lead singer of the band, said: ""It seemed to me that with all the debate on the environment, it was time to take a stand. And since we finished making the CD's all the talk of global warming and green tax has only gone to convince me we were right to do so.
"Handing over more money shouldn't always be the sole solution, why shouldn't we exercise a little thought and action instead? We might only be a small band, but if all the small bands in the world made the same effort, then, undoubtedly, it would make a big difference."
