Daredevil rodent dodges death
A quick-footed hamster has become the latest pet to survive a death defying run through a Materials Recovery Facility.Last week edie reported on the escapades of shell-shocked tortoise Murphy, who ran the gauntlet at a Kentish MRF and was left with a cracked shell and damaged leg for his troubles (see related story).
Now it has emerged that the pet is not the only animal to have looked death in the face in the form of a MRF and walked away intact.
At a facility operated by Recyclo in Flint, North Wales, Mike the Hamster has traded armour and reptilian cunning for lightning reflexes to make a successful run.
While surviving the spinning trammel could be put down to experience on the hamster wheel, the plucky pet also managed to make it through a four minute ordeal which included heading through a shredder designed to make mince meat of fridges, cookers and other large pieces of metal.
Mike is now recovering at the home of one of the site operatives, who has adopted the lucky rodent.
He is making a good recovery after his recycling.
