Institute of Water unveils 'Day in the Life' water event
The Institute of Water (IoW) is set to host a series of events exploring various roles within the water industry in a bid to provide better insight into the sector.
The first of the events will take place next week (September 30) and will see South East Water's leakage team run 'A Day in the Life of a Leakage Technician' at their head office in Kent, with the aim of providing attendees with information on the responsibilities and challenges faced by a leakage technician.
As part of the programme, the day will focus on all issues surrounding leakage, including leakage detection, step testing, data logging and leakage reporting, along with a hands-on session using the tools and equipment used by the team. A Q & A session will also be offered.
IoW chief executive Lynn Cooper said: "There are over 166,000 people employed in the UK water industry in a variety of different roles. This series will look to explore in depth what some of these roles entail.
"These events give delegates a rare opportunity to gain an insight into some key operational roles to the extent of talking with experts and handling some of the equipment they use. They make a great continuous professional development (CDP) activity for anybody looking to broaden their knowledge of the industry beyond their own territory."
The deadline to attend this event is September 26. To book and for more information about the IoW or other upcoming events visit: www.instituteofwater.org.uk
