Courtauld Commitment 3 set to be unveiled this spring

The future scope of the Courtauld Commitment will be announced this spring as the voluntary agreement prepares to enter its third phase.

WRAP chief executive Liz Goodwin confirmed the timescale during her keynote speech earlier today at the European Packaging Summit in Berlin, Germany.

"Discussions are well under way for Courtauld 3 and we plan to announce exactly what that might look like in the spring," she told delegates.

Phase 3 of Courtauld has been the subject of much speculation, but it is widely expected to target product lifecycle thinking within the grocery sector and retail value chain.

Last October WRAP's special adviser Mark Barthel argued the case for a broader range of metrics to measure waste reduction in the product supply chain, and that a Product Research Forum had been set up to inform this work.

WRAP has also developed a product knowledge pathway, which will help the forum devise strategies to reduce the environmental impact of individual products.
