Doctors urged to reduce emissions
Irish medical professionals have been urged to consider ways they can reduce their carbon footprints.
Currently, Dr Cullen is completing her doctorate into the possible health implications of climate change in Ireland.
She warned that there was a possibility that rising temperatures could lead to the return of some dangerous types of mosquitoes to the country.
"Climate change will affect everybody on the planet, but will impact mostly on people living in poorer countries in low-lying coastal areas," she explained to the publication.
"We hope to both educate people on the impact of climate change and to educate people about how to reduce their carbon footprint, and educate them about the effects of climate change."
Dr Cullen will urge the Health Service Executive (HSE) to take the lead in implementing climate change strategies at medical facilities in the country.
