Enterprise wins refuse contract in the heart of London

The City of London Corporation has awarded an eight-year waste management and street cleansing contract to Enterprise Managed Services.

Increasing the recycling rate for commercial and domestic waste customers will be a core part of the new contract, supported by public awareness campaigns including a quarterly recycling road show and a mobile civic amenity site.

A chewing gum removal service, focussing on major tourist attractions and other high profile City locations, will also be provided. Electric refuse trucks will be rolled out, to reduce noise and emissions, and two new sub-depots will be created.

City of London Corporation's environmental services committee chairman, John Tomlinson, said: "I am delighted that the months of hard work have resulted in a deal which not only generates significant savings, but also reduces carbon emissions and noise levels.

"This is a great demonstration of the City of London Corporation's continued commitment to getting best value for our businesses and residents."
