Under the deal, SWR will manage all waste at Morgan’s two London sites, with the aim to increase recycling levels from 26% to 80%. SWR is also looking to simplify waste management arrangements and reduce the overall cost of disposal.

St Martins Lane’s regional financial controller Ralf Albus said that before SWR was appointed, the hotel was already segregating its food waste but wanted to take a more holistic approach to its recycling operations.

He said: “SWR have completely changed the layout of the waste collection area and introduced signage that makes waste segregation a very straightforward process, immediately increasing the potential for improved recycling.

“We were also using a number of suppliers and suspected that we were paying too much. SWR helped us to implement a more streamlined operation that would give us better visibility of our costs.”

He added that in a short space of time, the hotel has already seen “immediate benefits” with regard to reduced costs and on-site operational improvements in waste handling.
