Episode 99 of edie’s Sustainable Business Covered Podcast has been created to mark Circular Economy Week 2021 – an editorial campaign designed to inform and inspire on the transition to a resource-efficient economy.

edie’s senior reporter Sarah George and content editor Matt Mace co-chair this episode, which has kindly been sponsored by Zero Waste Scotland, delivering four exclusive interviews. All discussions focus on the links between the low-carbon transition and the transition to a circular economy.

First up is Zero Waste Scotland’s executive director and chief executive officer, Iain Gulland, who discusses the state of play for resource policy in Scotland, as England forges ahead with Resources and Waste Strategy consultations

Then, Circle Economy’s senior consultant Tamara Veldboer gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the Circularity Gap report

Our third interviewee is Walgreens Boots Alliance’s vice president for corporate responsibility Richard Ellis. Ellis explores the links between plastic packaging and greenhouse gas emissions, providing examples of how the business has acted on both challenges simultaneously.

Last but by no means least, Techmet’s chief technical officer Simon Gardner Bond shines a light on whether the batteries we need to power the low-carbon transition can become truly circular.

This podcast episode forms part of edie’s Circular Economy Week editorial campaign, running from March 22-26. The week will be jam-packed with exclusive interviews, podcasts, reports, webinars and in-depth feature articles – all dedicated to embracing closed-loop models. Click here for a full line-up of content.
