Developed to mark Plastic-Free July 2020, this episode sees edie’s senior reporter Sarah George exploring the ways in which plastic-related legislation and plastic commitments from businesses have evolved this year

First up, Sarah assembles an exclusive panel of speakers responsible for driving plastic reduction initiatives within their own organisations: A Plastic Planet co-founder Sian Sutherland, Surfers Against Sewage chief executive Hugo Tagholm and Pernod Ricard Group’s indirect procurement director Nicolas Meauzé. The speakers provide their exclusive insight on whether plastic phase-outs have become more difficult during lockdown and what role plastics will play in the ‘new normal’ world.

Following on from that, HP’s new chief sustainability and social impact officer Ellen Jackowski dials in from her home in California to provide more information on the firm’s new plastic-related commitments. HP’s annual sustainable impact report for 2019, published last month, includes a commitment to cut single-use-plastic packaging use by 75%.
