Interconnectivity will enable smarter systems for energy and transport
The 'internet of things' and the roll-out of the 4G network is enabling businesses to create smarter systems for energy, transport and food, says O2's head of sustainability.
Head of sustainability, Bill Eyres, says 4G is bringing significant changes to technological development as it creates a "whole new level of connectivity" for people and business.
This increased connectivity will encourage sustainable development by allowing the easier transaction of shared ideas and collaborative efforts that help sustainable systems and technologies, into the market. Eyres also said these technological advances have the potential to impact behaviour change in customers.
"In many ways we have the technology to effect huge behaviour change - but the speed of adoption and culture change are critical," he added.
"Technology plus people is a powerful force for change".
