Minister backs wave and tidal power
Fresh from announcing the final plans for the way new electricity generation is connected to the UK's power grid a leading minister has pledged to support wave and tidal power.
Following his earlier announcement about grid connection Mr Kidney said wind power would remain the top renewable but he pledged to support wave and tidal power.
He said: "We expect the majority of the UK's renewable power to come from wind, particularly through a huge expansion of our off-shore wind capacity."
But he went on to say: "Harnessing electricity from our wave and tidal resources not only plays an important part in limiting climate change, but also presents a significant economic opportunity for the UK."
