The latest episode sees edie’s senior reporter Sarah George dialling Capgemini's global head of corporate responsibility, hot on the heels of the firm's new net-zero targets.
Back in 2017, Capgemini set 2C-aligned science-based targets, including an ambition to reduce carbon emissions by 30% on a per-employee basis by 2030. After meeting this target earlier this year, the IT services and consultancy giant pledged to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2025 and full net-zero alignment by 2030.
James provides exclusive insight into how Capgemini exceeded its previous targets, and what its key plans are for meeting its new, more ambitious aims.
He also discusses the firm's work with Race to Zero - the UK Government's global campaign to mobilise support for the net-zero transition ahead of COP26.
"The transition to net-zero has to be universal... we see the next decade as absolutely critical in terms of a sustainable business revolution," James says. "Revolution is a strong word, but probably the right word. If you look at the changes we need to see to transition to a 1.5C pathway, it's nothing short of radical."
