#SustyTalk: ING’s Leonie Schreve on financing a green Covid-19 recovery

edie’s senior reporter Sarah George dials Amsterdam to speak with ING’s global head of sustainable finance Leonie Schreve, who provides an overview of the bank’s recent sustainability announcements. ING recently co-formed a new venture designed to decarbonise the Netherlands’ inland shipping sector, for example, and has also joined more than 200 other businesses in lobbing Dutch legislators to create a truly green Covid-19 recovery package. 

Schreve also provides a broader overview of the role which the financial sector has in delivering the net-zero transition in a post-pandemic world. 

“We see clients really putting [the green recovery] as their top priority,” she said. “I think the realisation is that making yourself resilient equals making the transition on sustainability.”
