edie launches Responsible Retail Conference to discuss business-critical sustainability challenges
Retailers will be equipped with the tools they need to influence and engage with stakeholders on sustainability and realise the commercial benefits of low-carbon, resource-efficient business models at a brand new edie conference in September.
The edie Responsible Retail Conference, taking place on 21 September at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London, will feature expert presentations, interactive discussions and networking sessions –all focused on the value of responsible and sustainable retail (Scroll down for Conference brochure).
“This new event has a laser-like focus on the sustainability challenges and opportunities in the retail sector,” said edie content director Will Parsons. “With vast influence both up and down their supply chains, retailers are uniquely placed to not only drive their own sustainability credentials, but to act as the interconnector between suppliers and the consumer to create the appetite for real change.
“With an incredible programme of game-changers, this event is a must attend for anyone working in sustainability within retail, and those for whom understanding retail drivers is business critical.”
The CPD-certified Responsible Retail Conference will hone in the crucial sustainability and CSR challenges for retailers, including pre-competitive collaboration, supplier management, consumer engagement and creating a greener retail environment.
Sessions are structured under four key themes: ‘What is needed to engender collaboration in retail?’; ‘Driving transparency in the supply chain’; ‘Reducing waste and managing efficient retail spaces’; and ‘Influencing consumers, colleagues and wider society’.
Expert speakers providing presentations and taking part in panel discussions at the Conference include: -
- Joe Franses, Director of Corporate responsibility and sustainability, Coca-Cola Enterprises
- Paul Crewe, Head of sustainability energy and engineering, Sainsbury’s
- Carmel McQuaid, Head of sustainable business, Marks & Spencer
- Bert van Son, Founder, Mud Jeans
- Ben Maxwell, Senior manager – global impact, eBay
- Phil Birch, Sustainable development manager, John Lewis Partnership
- Jez Cutler, Head of environment and sustainability, Travis Perkins
- Caroline Laurie, Head of sustainability, Kingfisher
