The awards mark an exceptional year for the edie brand

The AOP Digital Publishing Awards, which took place as a virtual ceremony yesterday afternoon (15 October), recognise best practice in innovative, creative, profitable digital publishing.

edie’s editorial team – consisting of content director Luke Nicholls, content editor Matt Mace, and senior  reporter Sarah George – were recognised by the AOP judges for having “a real understanding of the industry sector the team is serving, creating a distinctive voice and providing industry leadership on key issues”.

Meanwhile, the coveted Best Online Brand (B2B) award was achieved through “a consistently high standard of content and commercial success across all digital platforms”, with this category’s shortlist including ITPro, Computer Reseller News and BusinessGreen.

‘Pioneering spirit’

Commenting on the double award-win, Amanda Barnes, chief executive of edie’s publisher Faversham House, said: “We are delighted edie and the team have been recognised as digital leaders in these prestigious awards. Carrying away the Digital Editorial Team of the Year and the Best Online Brand awards is amazing.

“We always knew edie was special and we are passionate about doing our bit to help this world become more sustainable. edie was launched as one of the first digital brands in 1998. It’s innovating and pioneering spirit are as in evidence today as they were on launch, and we continue our purpose to empower business leaders to be more sustainable. In such a tumultuous and difficult year, winning these awards is particularly welcome.”

The awards mark an exceptional year for the edie brand, which has had to restructure and has evolved all of its live events – including Net-Zero Live and the Sustainability Leaders Forum – into innovative virtual formats, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite this challenging backdrop, the brand has seen double-digit growth in website traffic, event engagement and Club membership – all while empowering businesses to be more environmentally and socially sustainable through informative, insightful and inspirational journalism.

This brand growth looks set to continue over the coming months, with the flagship Net-Zero Live event (10-12 November) shaping up to be the biggest virtual event of its kind in terms of the number of attendees, and the Sustainability Leaders Forum set to offer a unique, collaborative virtual event experience.
