#SustyTalk: Countdown to COP26 with Natural England’s Tony Juniper – Environment Bill and nature-based solutions

In preparation for COP26, edie has begun interviewing some of the experts in the fields of the Conference’s key themes, including clean energy, climate finance and nature-based solutions. To this latter point, our latest interview is with Natural England chair Tony Juniper.

This interview sees Juniper speaking with edie’s senior reporter Sarah George, to discuss the messages the UK Government is sending by having nature-based climate solutions as one of its core themes for the conference, and how it must build on this message with changes to national policy.

Juniper also reflects on how the Covid-19 crisis has impacted nature across England, touching on issues including funding for charities and public awareness.

Juniper is speaking at edie’s flagship Countdown to COP26 event on Thursday 20 May, alongside experts from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, UK Green Building Council, Grosvenor and the Department for BEIS. This will be for a panel discussion on climate resilience and the interconnections between the climate and nature crises.

Keynote speakers for this high-level virtual event include the UK Cabinet Office’s director of partnerships and engagement Matt Toombs and O2’s head of corporate responsibility and sustainability Tracey Herald.

More than 250 business and climate leaders have already registered to attend the event, which forms an integral part of edie’s Countdown to COP26 Festival of digital content and events.
