#SustyTalk: Meet the climate activists championing Arctic conservation and social justice

With edie readers still broadly working remotely, the #SustyTalk series of video interviews keeps you connected to the inspirational environmental leaders who are continuing to drive sustainability and champion climate action from their own homes.

#SustyTalk is all about keeping edie’s loyal readers connected to sustainability across the world, whilst reminding us all that sustainability and climate action must go on through the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. 

With less than four months to go until COP26, edie is using this format – which has previously spotlighted sustainability and energy professionals – to amplify the voices and highlight the work of climate activists, encouraging sustainability professionals to take their learnings on board. 

The latest episode sees edie’s senior reporter Sarah George chairing a panel featuring three climate activists, namely: 

– Zanagee Artis, co-founder and policy director at Zero Hour 

– Inge Relph, co-founder and executive director at global choices 

– Emma Wilkinson, coordinator of the Arctic Angels programme at Global Choices 

During this discussion – hosted as part of edie’s COP26 Focus Week – the panellists explore how those within the green economy can improve their storytelling to engage larger groups of people and mobilise action ahead of the crucial climate conference in Glasgow. 

The panel also put forward their thoughts on how businesses can champion climate justice and use their influence to support activists in calling for changes to national policy. The panellists’ argument is that, while there has been a lot of welcome talk on the need for a just transition to a net-zero, resource-efficient world, the gap between ambition and action must urgently be bridged.
