Presented by edie’s senior reporter Sarah George and content editor Matt Mace, this episode of the Sustainable Business Covered Podcast explores the global state of play regarding carbon offsetting and pricing – and how these tools can help deliver a net-zero world.

To help answer this big question are our two guests for this episode.

The first half of this episode features an exclusive interview with the Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets’ Chris Leeds. The Taskforce was launched by former Bank of England Governer Mark Carney last year, with the aim of scaling the global market for carbon offsetting 15-fold by 2030 and up to 160-fold by 2050, against 2019 levels. Leeds is the head of carbon markets development.

Then, in the second half, Sarah catches up with Lord Barker of Battle, former UK Energy and Climate Minister and current chairman of aluminium and hydropower conglomerate EN+ Group. Lord Barker speaks in his new role as co-chair of The World Bank’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, outlining how strong carbon pricing can complement offsetting while accelerating emissions reductions in-house.
