Presented by edie’s senior reporter Sarah George and content editor Matt Mace, this new episode of edie’s long-standing Sustainable Business Covered Podcast is hosted to coincide with Climate Week NYC and Great Big Green Week in the UK – two major events focused on garnering climate collaboration and action.

Collectively, these events have seen more than 5,000 sessions held across the world, bringing together world leaders, businesses, NGOs, academics, community groups, individuals and all manner of other organisations.

This podcast episode provides an opportunity to reflect on the whirlwind week while keeping focus on the crucial talks that will be happening in Glasgow in November. There is a specific focus on inclusion and public engagement.

Our first guest for this episode is the Climate Group’s chief executive Helen Clarkson. The Climate Group have been hosting Climate Week NYC annually since 2009. Helen gives us a taste of the atmosphere in New York and outlines the organisation’s efforts to improve the event’s climate justice focus for 2021.

Going from the US to the UK, the second guest is the Climate Coalition’s community organiser Grace Fisher. The Climate Coalition is the organisation behind Great Big Green Week, so Grace summarises all the key happenings, outlines how you can still get involved, and provides her best-practice learnings on engaging the general public.

After a short break, Sarah interviews the third and final guest, Beggars Group’s head of sustainability Will Hutton. Will gives his thoughts on how businesses working in arts, culture and media can leverage their influence to drive wider conversations around – and action on – the climate crisis. He also gives an update on the record label’s own journey towards carbon-negative operations.

As the episode comes to a close, Matt and Sarah mention some of edie’s recent and upcoming webinars. You can find full information and register to attend or stream these sessions by clicking here.
