Highground Contracting Ltd, of Hertford, has purchased the 19 vehicles, fitted with tipper bodies and ordered with snow plough and gritter attachments from its local distributor, Duffields of Enfield.

The new FL, launched in the UK last summer, offers the latest Volvo technology in intelligent control systems, engines, and brakes to maximise productivity and lower operating costs. Key features include a new entry to the cab, which has a new dashboard, new adjustable steering wheel, new seat and a new driver information system. There is also an electronically controlled six-litre engine that can meet future Euro 3 emissions standards, new gearbox, new disc brake system, new rear axle and improved chassis packaging.

Highground Contracting has been carrying out Hertfordshire County Council’s road salting work for several years. Last year the company bought 18 Volvo trucks as part of its 60-strong road salting fleet.
