The companies, all from Dublin, will share a Euro 12.5 million to deliver a two-year campaign to raise public awareness about the causes and consequences of climate change.

The Climate Change Communications and Public Awareness Campaign will be delivered by Mary Murphy Associates, Cawley Nea/TBWA, RPS Group and OMD Ireland.

It is hoped that the campaign will focus on all the sectors that could be impacted by climate change – including energy, transport, agriculture, residential, the public sector and business.

Officials launching the scheme said that the campaign was vital if Ireland was to meet its emissions targets.

Recently, the Government revealed that it was set to introduce a series of tax incentives designed to boost energy conservation.

A report in the Irish Independent suggested that businesses would be encouraged to claim the full cost of energy efficient purchases against the year’s taxable income.
