The microgeneration specialist is to provide its solar tiles as part of a development project in Newtownards by W Copeland and Son, New Energy Focus reports.
Some 36 properties will use the renewable technology and it is thought that the use of Solarcentury’s C21e tiles will generate a cumulative 26 kilowatts of electricity in prime conditions.
According to the news provider, this could save some 14 tonnes of carbon emissions every year.
Solarcentury’s regional manager for Northern Ireland Andy Baird explained that the development will not only offer top-class design but also money saving opportunities now that energy costs are rising.
Meanwhile, Graeme Copeland of W Copeland and Son, said: “As a forward-thinking company we hope that not only will we promote our development, but we will also encourage our clients to run energy efficient homes.”
Renewable energy in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland could be produced through an interconnected wind energy grid with Scotland should a study launched this month support its feasibility.
