The Limerick Clare Energy Agency (LCEA) has organised the conference at the Desmond Centre in Newcastle West in which SMEs can take part in energy use and efficiency workshops.

Pat Stephens of LCEA, said that the conference was designed to help SMEs make sense of energy bills, find out how energy efficient their business was and then to devise a strategy to improve their performance.

He told the Limerick Post: “One of the biggest obstacles is making companies aware of what their energy is and what they use it for, and to make them aware of the alternatives – indigenous energy that is on their doorstep.

“We want them to be aware of renewable energies that can help them, and to be aware of grants schemes that are out there.”

The LCEA is helping pilot a home energy saving scheme launched by energy minister Eamon Ryan.
