Mayo-based company Surface Power has announced plans to launch the new renewable energy product, which has been tested by Independent Certification and compared to over 50 other collectors holding the Solar Keymark.

Company founder John Quinn commented: “The solar panel is a hot water type designed specifically for the retrofit market although it is perfectly suitable also for new builds.

“It was designed to deal specifically with Irish climatic conditions such as wind, rain and cloud.

“It may be classified as new technology and simpler to use and install but it is not more expensive to produce.”

According to Mr Quinn, the product proved to be as much as 131% more efficient than other leading solar panels in the morning and evening.

The launch of the new solar technology is expected to boost jobs and growth in the Irish energy market.
