CIWEM looks at flooding

The annual conference of the Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management (CIWEM) brought together dozens of speakers to look at issues from flood risk management to climate change.

Sessions last week looked at diverse subjects including technical issues in achieving a sustainable water industry; water resources and integrated catchment management and climate change and sustainability.

Speakers included chairman of the Environment Agency Lord Chris Smith, Government’s former chief scientific advisor Professor David King, Philip Fletcher CBE, chairman of the Water Services Regulation Authority, chief executive of Water UK Pamela Taylor and chairman of the Cross Party Climate Change Group Colin Challen, MP.

Edie was at the conference and several of the presentations can be found in our conference pages.

Below are presenatation from David Rooke, the Environment Agency’s head of flood defence, and John Gosden of environmental consultancy Jacobs to whet your appetite.
