CRC clinic – Carbon Trust joins line-up to explain how early action can still count in your favour

John Newton, from the Carbon Trust Standard, joins the speaker line-up on November 12th, to explain how voluntary certification and recognition of an organisation's climate credentials, can be an approved early action metric in the CRC.

Taking early action prior to the launch of CRC will not only enhance your business reputation by positioning your company higher in the league table, but it will also save your organisation money.

At this seminar, you will find out how to prepare for the CRC with early action.

However, we will also look beyond the CRC and find out how to position your organisation in a low-carbon economy.

On November 12 edie.net’s CRC Clinic will offer advice on how to ensure your organisation performs well on the league table and making compliance as pain free as possible.

Hear the latest thinking on the scheme from Whitehall with DECC’s head of carbon markets, Niall Mackenzie and the expert view on how to turn the CRC into an opportunity with ERM’s head of climate change Charles Allison.

Lucie Drummond, of Burges Salmon LLP’s Energy and Environment Team will give a talk entitledTranslating the Carbon Reduction Commitment into practice:

The CRC, while aiming to a simple scheme, has several complex aspects that many organisations are struggling to understand.

One facet of this is that a large number of those who will be required to fully participate in the CRC are not currently subject to, or necessarily familiar with, emissions trading legislation.

In this seminar, Burges Salmon will highlight a number of key legal issues arising from the scheme.

These include defining the corporate structure under the scheme, including nomination of primary members and the possible disaggregation of significant group undertakings; the significance of property holding arrangements; commercial and transactional implications; and determining emissions responsibility based on definitions as updated following the Government’s response to consultation.

Also, Energy efficiency solutions company powerPerfector will offer practical advice on cutting consumption while Building Automation Solutions will give an overview on how to manage your facilities better.

Tickets for the event, which will take place at the Hurlingham Club, London, are priced at £150+Vat and can be booked online at: http://www.edie.net/ms/crc/crc_tickets_1.asp
