The Scottish Government has announced a delivery programme which will bring together key players including Scotland, Waste Aware Scotland, Remade Scotland, Envirowise Scotland, NISP, Keep Scotland Beautiful and the Community Recycling Network for Scotland.

The Zero Waste Scotland programme will be led by WRAP’s Scottish Director Iain Gulland, who hailed the partnership as an exciting opportunity.

Iain will be working with the Scottish Government and partners over the coming weeks to finalise a project plan and to ensure that transition from the current model is as smooth as possible.

Iain Gulland said: “The opportunity to develop the Zero Waste Scotland programme is exciting.

“Bringing together the delivery of Zero Waste programmes in Scotland will enable us to deliver better and more efficient services to consumers, local authorities and businesses.

“It will give greater clarity to those seeking advice and support on Zero Waste, and it will mean services will be better integrated and able to benefit from economies of scale.

“We will be looking to make the development of the Zero Waste Scotland programme as smooth as possible and will be working with partners to make this happen.”

The zero waste targets were originally planned two years ago.
