The housing association got the gold standard in a ranking of 32 social housing providers in the Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow (SHIFT).

WDH has a committed climate change policy and says: “We have a responsibility to ensure that our housing stock is as energy efficient as possible, with our tenants fully aware of the issues surrounding climate change and what they can do to help tackle it.”

SHIFT has a membership of 32 associations, representing one million homes.

The scheme was developed in partnership with WWF-UK, Homes and Communities Agency, Tenant Services Authority and the UK Green Building Council.

WWF campaigns director, Colin Butfield, said: “SHIFT drives associations to reduce their carbon emissions, adapt to climate change and engage with residents.

“WWF congratulates all these organizations for being at the forefront of sustainability”.

In the index, one member achieved gold standard, 16 silver and 13 bronze.
